A consortium of car manufacturers sought a common car and financing configurator for their dealers located throughout Europe. The brief required:

• Business analysis and technical design of an online car and financing configurator.
• Development of the full-stack solution.
• Integration with car and product catalog providers, CRMs and financing back-end software.

Our solution

• Extremely configurable (front-end and back-end) software to be deployed independently for each brand of the union, meaning individual manufacturers can now set up their own corporate design and connect to their own IT landscape.
• Open interfaces for data import and export.
• Very clear and reactive user interface to accelerate comparisons and conversion rate.

Our solution slashed the time retailers were able to provide clients with a new car financing offer by 50%.

Our Task: Analysis, design, & performance testing

The low quality of a brand-new contract management platform delayed the deployment to production and led to an explosion of testing and correction costs. Company management tasked us to:

• Provide a comprehensive analysis of the source code of an error-prone Java software shortly before the official launch.
• Design a solution that rapidly improves performance, meets the business’s requirements and eliminates all major programming errors.
• Measure performance and test the new software in trial operations.

Our solution

By employing JMeter and Selenium, the team at AERIS:

• Designed an end-to-end test plan to avoid potential regressions during the refactoring and quantify performance challenges.
• Lowered the round trips between user interface and services.
• Refactored the object-oriented source code. By using the principle of segregation of responsibilities, the structure was clarified and the coupling drastically decreased.
• Shortened the sizes of the methods to facilitate the unit test implementation and bug investigations.
• Devised automated unit tests with Maven and Jenkins.

Our Task: Process digitalization

In order to align the European group accounting methodologies and tools to the Basel II regulation, the company tasked us to:

• Analyze the existing outdated internal bookkeeping program which required all processes to be controlled manually.
• Broaden the company’s digitalization and improve integration between the various pieces of software.
• Enable back-office tasks to be processed via an enhanced interface directly to the corporation’s bookkeeping software.

Our solution

• Extensively analyzed the internal processes and affected work areas to provide individual recommendations and propose guidelines.
• Designed a comprehensive roadmap to digitize processes relating to back-office and bookkeeping, including the detailed technical specifications for its implementation.

Our Task: Specifications to adapt software

The banking group wanted to reduce costs associated with developing and maintaining the middle and back-office systems of their subsidiaries. They chose to re-use the platform recently developed for the UK in Germany, where the existing system was outdated. AERIS was tasked with performing a complete business and technical analysis, including:

• Replace the outdated back-office management system with a corporate solution to align processes and reduce maintenance and license costs.
• Adapt the software originally developed for the UK to meet German market conditions and laws.
• Digitally unify the different working practices and legal requirements of both countries.

Our Task: Modular and flexible architecture

A new digital marketing strategy was to be implemented to better serve individual client needs. Before this could occur, data from different sources needed to be collected, processed and then amalgamated to have full and accurate client profiles.

• Integrate the platform with existing applications such as data warehouses, systems from service providers and for product information management.
• Ensure the solutions fit all the subsidiaries, their IT landscapes and local legal regulations.

Our solution

• We designed and implemented a platform that collected data sets from heterogeneous sources. We normalized and combined them so that they could be distributed to any kind of target. The processed data included details about clients, products and contracts in different formats.
• Designed modular software architecture using robust and innovative technologies for well-connected REST APIs based on Spring Framework.
• Set up a continuous deployment pipeline to automatically build and deploy the software individually for each subsidiary.
• Developed the business software to be efficiently and quickly adapted to the specific circumstances of the subsidiaries and partners.

Our Task: Software quality improvements & continuous integration

A company creating tailor-made websites and e-commerce solutions suffered from unexpected maintenance works on their existing projects. They asked us to:

• Optimize unreliable and substandard software that caused delays and regressions during maintenance, resulting in inefficient working procedures and, in turn, shrinking profitability.
• Design and develop a standardized solution that enables efficient and profitable work practices.

Our solution

By employing agile software development and well-structured architectures, AERIS succeeded in:

• Reorganizing the new projects, as well as carrying out simultaneous maintenance of the existing assorted softwares.

• Designed and led the development of a new modern microservices-based architecture using the most efficient open-source solutions. The services can scale independently depending on the increasing volume of devices or users.
• Unified the different versions of the heterogeneous device protocols with no additional deployment, thereby ensuring all data is delivered to users in seconds.
• Monitored devices’ behavior so users can configure alarms for real-time detection of misuse and failures. Monitoring immediately brings any failure to the team’s attention and fine logging with distributed tracing assists in the fast resolution of issues.
